Removing the existing island and designing an enclosed G-shape floor plan crated a significant amount of new counter and cabinet space. Expanding the kitchen in two directions – into an adjacent hallway and powder room and into a nearby study – added minimal yet valuable square footage. The dated banister between the dining area and family room gave way to a new cabinet peninsula that matches the units in the kitchen.
